PSG strongly condemns racist abuse towards Nuno Mendes following their 3-1 win over Brest. The club is working with authorities to hold those responsible accountable.
BollywoodFever: Paris St-Germain has come out in strong support of their defender Nuno Mendes after he was subjected to racist and abusive messages on social media following the team’s 3-1 victory over Brest in Ligue 1.
Mendes, who committed a foul leading to a penalty for Brest, faced a wave of online abuse despite PSG’s impressive comeback, fueled by Ousmane Dembele’s two goals and Fabian Ruiz’s strike.
The Portuguese left-back, who is Black, shared a screenshot of the offensive message he received.
PSG quickly responded, releasing a statement on Sunday condemning the attacks and emphasizing that they do not tolerate any form of racism or discrimination.
“The racial insults directed at Nuno Mendes are totally unacceptable,” PSG stated.
We stand firmly by Nuno and all those affected, and we are working closely with authorities to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
PSG’s firm stance against racism reflects the ongoing fight against discrimination in football, a movement that many fans around the world continue to support.
As PSG prepares for their upcoming Champions League clash against Girona on Wednesday and their French League match against Stade de Reims on Saturday, the club remains committed to backing Mendes during this difficult time.
Their response is a reminder that football is a game of passion, but there is no place for hate or discrimination, on or off the pitch.
