QUAVO’s Tribute to Takeoff at Grammy 2023
QUAVO’s Tribute to Takeoff
The rapper, who released the somber song last month as a memorial to Takeoff, was joined on stage by the Maverick City Music choir, adding a poignant layer to the already emotional tribute.
The moving performance showcased Quavo’s love and devotion for his late nephew, making for a memorable moment at the awards show.
At the 2023 Grammy Awards, Quavo delivered an emotional performance in honor of his late nephew, Takeoff.
The microphone stand was adorned with Takeoff’s iced-out intergalactic chain, and Quavo wore a black eye mask as he performed “Without You.”
The song, produced by Zaytoven, Mike Dean, Elyas and Eugene, is a heartfelt tribute to Takeoff, with lyrics like “Tears rollin’ down my eyes/Can’t tell you how many times I cried/Days ain’t the same without you/I don’t know if I’m the same without you.”
The Maverick City Music choir added a special touch to the performance, singing a portion of Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again.”
Takeoff was tragically killed on Nov. 1, 2022, during an altercation at a Houston venue.
He was 28 years old. The event has left a lasting impact on Quavo and the hip-hop community.
The powerful performance at the Grammys serves as a fitting tribute to the life and legacy of Takeoff.
Patrick Xavier Clark, also known as DJ Pat, has been charged with the murder of Takeoff. He was 33 years old at the time of his arrest in November 2022, along with another man, Cameron Joshua, who was charged with weapons possession. Clark is the only individual charged with Takeoff’s murder, and was released on a $1 million bond in January.
