Role Model, aka Tucker Pillsbury, joins Gracie Abrams on tour, sharing insights into their friendship, his new album ‘Kansas Anymore,’ and growing up in New England.
BollywoodFever: While Charli XCX and Troye Sivan bring the party across North America with their Sweat tour, another dynamic duo is captivating audiences with heartache-infused performances: Role Model and Gracie Abrams. Role Model, real name Tucker Pillsbury, describes his and Abrams’ tour as a “wholesome Sweat tour,” focused on themes of heartbreak, homesickness, and coming-of-age.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Pillsbury revealed how Abrams personally invited him to join her on The Secret of Us Tour in support of her album. “She’s been a friend for years, and I’ve been a fan for years, so to be touring with a friend like that, it’s pretty lucky,” Pillsbury shared. His headlining No Place Like Tour, originally scheduled earlier, was pushed to November so he could tour with Abrams.
Fans were thrilled when the two artists performed a surprise duet of Abrams’ “Feels Like,” which Pillsbury called “the moment of the year” for him. “Getting on stage with her was incredible,” he said. “It felt like a very big moment for me.”
Role Model’s upcoming No Place Like Tour will support his sophomore album Kansas Anymore, which explores themes of nostalgia, homesickness, and heartbreak. Pillsbury admitted that the album’s title caused confusion, with fans thinking he was from Kansas, when in fact, he proudly hails from Maine. His folk-inspired sound was shaped by his upbringing in New England, and he described creating an album that felt “warm, nostalgic, and sonically like home.”
Pillsbury hinted at a possible collaboration with fellow New England artist Noah Kahan, as they both share a connection to their roots in Maine. Pillsbury’s journey continues as he prepares for his solo tour, bringing his deeply personal sound to audiences across Europe and the U.S.
