Ryan Garcia Tests Positive for Ostarine in VADA Test After Devin Haney Fight
Ryan Garcia reportedly tested positive for the banned substance ostarine in a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association test following his majority decision victory over Devin Haney on April 20. Boxing journalist Dan Rafael broke the news, citing “multiple sources with knowledge of the results.”
ESPN’s Mike Coppinger provided additional details, stating, “Ryan Garcia tested positive for the PED Ostarine the day before and the day of his upset win over Devin Haney, per a VADA letter obtained by ESPN. Garcia has 10 days to request his B-sample be tested. A-sample also screened positive for 19-norandrosterone but unconfirmed.”
Garcia had been slated to fight Haney for the WBC super lightweight title but forfeited his opportunity to win the belt after weighing in three pounds over the limit.
In response to the news, Garcia posted on X: lol.
Bill Haney, Devin Haney’s father, expressed frustration, stating, “You trying to hurt my baby. We played it fair. We didn’t do it like that. F–k boxing, this is some bulls–t. I came from the streets. You scared of Devin on a level playing field. I feel f–ked up over this. If you can brag about doing it, you shouldn’t be on drugs.”
