Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan have taken their relationship to the next level!
On Thursday, June 6, the “Espresso” singer released a music video for her new single “Please Please Please,” featuring her Saltburn actor boyfriend.
Keoghan appears throughout most of the music video, with Carpenter making a playful nod to his profession in the opening lyrics, singing, “I heard that you’re an actor, so act like a stand-up guy.”
The video starts with Carpenter being released from jail — a possible reference to her arrest in the “Espresso” music video — and locking eyes with a fellow inmate, played by Keoghan.
As the video progresses, Carpenter references iconic film criminals, including Bonnie and Clyde, as she plays the devoted girlfriend to her incarcerated boyfriend. Keoghan’s character is soon released, and the couple quickly embark on their relationship.
Later, Carpenter pleads with Keoghan as he reverts to his criminal ways and associates with the wrong crowd. “Please, please, please don’t prove I’m right,” Carpenter sings. “And please, pleasе, please don’t bring me to tеars when I just did my makeup so nice. Heartbreak is one thing, my ego’s another. I beg you, don’t embarrass me, motherf—er. Please, please, please.”
Towards the end, Carpenter reluctantly assists Keoghan in robbing a woman at gunpoint and gets arrested again. The video concludes with Carpenter waiting for him and then taking him home from jail. She then handcuffs him to a chair, tapes his mouth shut, kisses him, and leaves him in an empty warehouse.
On June 3, Carpenter, 25, announced the upcoming release of her new album, Short n’ Sweet, set for Friday, Aug. 23. The announcement included the album’s cover artwork, featuring Carpenter’s long blonde hair cascading down her back and a dark red kiss mark on her left shoulder against a deep blue background.
“MY NEW ALBUM IS COMING OUT AUGUST 23rd!!!!💋,” Carpenter excitedly shared on social media. “This project is quite special to me and I hope it’ll be something special to you too.”
“Please Please Please” follows the success of her recent single “Espresso,” which she performed live for the first time at her Coachella 2024 debut.
She also performed the hit during her first Saturday Night Live appearance on May 18, along with her songs “Feather” and “Nonsense.” The next day, she reflected on the milestone on Instagram, quoting lyrics from her latest hit and writing, “literally working late cuz I’m a singer.”
The Singular Act I artist also wrote, “@nbcsnl thank you for having us I’m sooooo not chill about it and never will be.”
Regarding her relationship with the 31-year-old Irish actor, they first sparked dating rumors in late 2023 and made their red carpet debut in March 2024 at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty. In May, they attended the Met Gala together.
