Bahri confirms that its tanker Amjad was not targeted in the recent Red Sea attack that hit another nearby vessel, ensuring the ship remains fully operational and undamaged.
Bollywood Fever: Saudi shipping firm Bahri clarified on Tuesday that its tanker Amjad was not targeted in a recent Red Sea attack, and the vessel sustained no damage from the incident that affected another nearby tanker.
The U.S. Central Command reported that Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels launched an attack on two crude oil tankers in the Red Sea on Monday: the Saudi-flagged Amjad and the Panama-flagged Blue Lagoon I.
The attack involved two ballistic missiles and a one-way uncrewed aerial system, hitting both vessels. However, Bahri, which owns and manages the Amjad, released a statement titled “Unexplained aerial activity reported,” refuting claims that the Amjad was impacted.
“We unequivocally affirm that AMJAD was not targeted and sustained no injuries or damage. The vessel remains fully operational and is proceeding to her planned destination without interruption,” Bahri stated.
The company emphasized that it promptly informed all relevant authorities and remains in continuous communication with the crew as they vigilantly monitor the situation.
The Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for targeting the Blue Lagoon with multiple missiles and drones but did not mention the Saudi tanker.
According to the U.S. military, both tankers were loaded with crude oil, with the Amjad carrying approximately two million barrels. The attacks were described by the U.S. as “reckless acts of terrorism by the Houthis.”
Despite the proximity of the two vessels during the attack, Reuters reported on Monday that both ships were able to continue their voyages without sustaining major damage or casualties.
