BollywoodFever: Selena Gomez has revealed some heartbreaking news regarding her plans for motherhood. The 32-year-old singer recently opened up in an interview with Vanity Fair, sharing that due to medical complications, she is unable to carry her own children. This news has led her to explore other options such as adoption and surrogacy.
Gomez explained, “I haven’t ever said this but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy.
That was something I had to grieve for a while.” Though it’s not how she initially envisioned starting a family, she expressed that she is now in a “much better place” emotionally.
The Only Murders in the Building star is optimistic about the future and considers it “a blessing” that adoption and surrogacy are available options.
I’m really thankful there are other outlets for people who are dying to be moms just like me,” Gomez shared, adding that while her journey to motherhood “will look a little different,” she is excited for what’s to come.
Selena reflected on the importance of family, sharing that she had a “firm plan” to start a family by age 35.
Her own mother, Mandy Teefey, was adopted, and Selena is “very thankful” for how that played out, noting that her mother’s experience has further influenced her views on adoption.
Despite the challenges, Selena remains positive and excited for the future, saying that no matter the method, the child will still be hers.
