Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders owns up to a costly interception in the Buffaloes’ 28-10 loss to Nebraska. Learn how the team plans to bounce back against Colorado State.
Bollywood Fever: Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes and son of head coach Deion Sanders, took responsibility for a key mistake that contributed to their 28-10 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters postgame, the 22-year-old acknowledged his interception in the first quarter as a “rookie mistake” that set the tone for the defeat.
The costly interception, made by Nebraska cornerback Tommi Hill, resulted in a touchdown, putting Colorado behind 14-0.
From there, the Buffaloes struggled to recover, with Nebraska extending the lead to 28-0 by halftime. Sanders explained, “It was just a rookie mistake, honestly. That’s what it was.“
Despite Sanders’ solid overall performance—completing 23-of-38 passes for 244 yards and one touchdown—the early pick-6 was enough to derail Colorado’s momentum. “We’ve just got to bounce back from it and learn from that situation,” Sanders said.
The Buffaloes’ QB also faced criticism after exiting the game with two minutes left, heading to the locker room after his father, Deion Sanders, took him out with the game out of reach.
Colorado will return to action next Saturday, September 14, against Colorado State, and Shedeur Sanders is expected to be more motivated than ever after the tough loss in Lincoln, Nebraska.
