Amitabh Bachchan surprised the movie unit by recording 23 scenes in 5 hours. Achieving this feat was unheard of.

The film is based upon the real-life gun battle between gangsters and Mumbai Police, which occurred on November 16, 1991.

‘Sunil Shetty’ replaced Arjun Rampal after he walked out of this project.

‘Vivek Oberoi”s Character Maya was based on Mumbai Gangster ‘Mahindra Dolas’.

Many scenes were shot on the actual locations at Lokhandwala Complex in Mumbai where the actual incident had happened.

Sanjay Dutt’s character was based on the real life Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Aftab Ahmed Khan Head of the ATS who was leading the gun battle with gangsters.

Urmila Matondkar and Esha Deol were signed for roles but opted out.
