Skip Bayless voices his concerns about the Dallas Cowboys potentially signing Dalvin Cook, fearing it could lead to a difficult comparison with Ezekiel Elliott.
Bollywood Fever: Skip Bayless, a well-known and vocal supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, isn’t thrilled about the team’s interest in signing former Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook. In fact, Bayless fears that bringing in Cook could force him into a tough situation.
“My fear if the Cowboys sign Dalvin Cook, even to just the practice squad, is that I’ll soon be forced to decide who looks more washed up, Dalvin or Zeke,” Bayless tweeted on Tuesday.
Fortunately for Bayless, Cook left Dallas without a deal after his workout with the team. The Cowboys were reportedly only willing to offer him a practice squad spot, and according to Clarence Hill Jr. of All City Dallas, Cook has another audition lined up with the Indianapolis Colts.
Bayless has previously expressed his displeasure with the Cowboys’ decision to reunite with Ezekiel Elliott this offseason. Elliott, a two-time rushing champion, is coming off a difficult season with the New England Patriots, where he posted career lows in multiple categories, including carries (184), rushing yards (642), rushing touchdowns (3), and yards per carry (3.5).

“I used to love Zeke in those first three years [of his career],” Bayless said on his podcast in May. “But right now, Ezekiel Elliott is more washed than dishes on Thanksgiving night.”
The Cowboys recently made significant changes to their running back room, cutting Malik Davis, Royce Freeman, Nathaniel Peat, and Snoop Connor. As a result, the current depth chart includes Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, and Hunter Luepke.
The Cowboys are set to kick off their season on September 8 against the Cleveland Browns, with their running back situation still a topic of concern and debate among fans and analysts alike.
