Leanne Lucas, the yoga instructor injured in the Southport attack, has been readmitted to the hospital amid her recovery. The tragic incident left three young girls dead, and friends continue to rally support for Leanne and her colleague Heidi Barlow.
Bollywood Fever: Loved ones of Leanne Lucas, the yoga instructor critically injured during the horrific attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, have provided a devastating update on her condition. The 35-year-old, who initially survived life-saving surgery following the July 29 incident, has now been readmitted to the hospital due to complications in her recovery.
Leanne was targeted in the brutal attack at the Hart Street community center, where a knifeman intruded and fatally stabbed three young girls: Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9, and Bebe King, 6. Despite being released from the hospital earlier this month, Leanne’s journey to recovery has taken a setback as she struggles with her breathing, requiring another operation to drain her lung due to an infection.
Friends and family have been sharing updates through a GoFundMe page set up to support Leanne’s recovery. A recent post read: “Unfortunately this week Leanne was readmitted to hospital due to struggling with her breathing. She is waiting for an operation for another drain on her lung due to infection.”
The post also emphasized that Leanne’s recovery is far from over, urging continued support: “Leanne had barely begun her road to recovery. Please keep her in your thoughts and continue supporting her as you have been by sharing the page & donating anything you can. Thank you all from the Lucas family & friends.”
Reports have surfaced that Leanne bravely attempted to protect the children during the attack. She and fellow instructor Heidi Barlow were leading the dance and yoga session when the tragedy struck. Heidi, who sustained less severe injuries, is also being hailed as a hero for her quick actions in ushering many children to safety, even locking some in a toilet to protect them from the attacker.
A separate fundraiser has been launched for Heidi, highlighting her bravery and the emotional toll the event has taken on her. A friend shared: “Although she may not agree, she is a hero! I know her thoughts are constantly with all the children and families that have been affected.”
The page underscores the need for financial support to help Heidi take the necessary time to heal, both emotionally and mentally, without the added pressures of financial burdens.
As the community continues to mourn the loss of the three young lives, the outpouring of support for Leanne, Heidi, and the affected families remains strong, with many rallying to ensure they receive the care and assistance they need during this unimaginable time.
