The Spice Girls came together once again at Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday celebration on Saturday. At the event held at Oswald’s, a private members’ club in London, they performed their iconic dance to the song “Stop,” a scene captured in a video shared by David Beckham on Instagram.
Victoria Beckham, also known as Posh Spice, was joined by her former bandmates Mel B, Geri Halliwell, Melanie C, and Emma Bunton for the dance. She later shared the video on her own Instagram account, exclaiming, “Best night ever! Happy birthday to me! I love you all so much” and used the hashtag #SpiceUpYourLife.
Last year, the group commemorated the 25th anniversary of “Stop,” a track from their 1997 album “Spiceworld,” by releasing an alternative throwback video.
Amid speculation of a more formal reunion, either through a tour or new music, Mel B (Scary Spice) hinted in a recent “Today” show interview that they are planning something significant. Although she sidestepped questions about a tour, she mentioned they are collaborating on something “very good” and described it as “the gift that keeps on giving.”
The Spice Girls initially disbanded in 2000, following a meteoric six-year run starting in 1994. They have had several reunions, including a notable performance at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony and a 2019 tour without Victoria Beckham. Their 2007 reunion, “The Return of the Spice Girls Tour,” was a commercial success, generating $70.1 million at the box office.
