Steph Curry Embraces Underdog Role as Golden State Warriors Enter New Era Without Klay Thompson

With Klay Thompson gone, Steph Curry is eager to prove doubters wrong as the Golden State Warriors gear up for the 2024-25 season, despite long odds to win the Western Conference.

Bollywood Fever: As the Golden State Warriors prepare for the 2024-25 NBA season, a new era is set to begin with Klay Thompson no longer part of the team. This change signals the end of the iconic “Splash Brothers” duo, and fans will have to adjust to seeing superstar point guard Steph Curry lead the team without his long-time backcourt partner.

The Warriors missed the playoffs last season, finishing with a 46-36 record and 10th in the Western Conference. Although they secured a play-in spot, a loss to the Sacramento Kings ended their season early, causing many to doubt Golden State’s chances of contending for another championship.

But Curry thrives in situations where people count him out. “I love the fact that people don’t think we can keep the pace with some of the other teams they’re picking in the West,” Curry said in an interview with People‘s Natasha Dye. “I just love that challenge of stepping into a training camp and being able to create your own success — that gets me going.”

Despite the long odds, Curry remains confident in the Warriors’ ability to compete at the highest level. Last season, the 36-year-old averaged 26.4 points per game with a 57.3% effective field goal percentage, proving he can still perform at an elite level. However, without Thompson and with multiple teams ahead of the Warriors in the Western Conference race, the road to the NBA Finals will be difficult.

The Warriors’ current odds to win the Western Conference are +2200, far behind favorites like the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are listed at +320, according to ESPN. Yet, with Curry’s drive and leadership, Golden State hopes to defy expectations once again and make a deep playoff run.
