Stranger Things Season 3 Breaks Viewership Record Of Netflix

Stranger Things’ return to Netflix has been massively popular, with the third installment breaking the netflix viewer records.

Netflix released viewer data for the third season of the science fiction series, revealing that 40.7 million member accounts tuned in over the four days to watch a portion of the show since it was released. The show’s Fourth of July global debut now boasts the biggest viewership number for a Netflix original series or film in it’s first days.

Netflix US tweeted

.@Stranger_Things 3 is breaking Netflix records! 40.7 million household accounts have been watching the show since its July 4 global launch — more than any other film or series in its first four days. And 18.2 million have already finished the entire season.

The figures are for the number of households that have watched the series, which is different to the total number of people who will have actually seen it.

Netflix says it counts a view when someone has watched at least 70% of an episode or film.

Netflix measured that using a different method – saying it had been the most watched series every day since its premiere – which is different to the Stranger Things “households” number.
