Valorant star TenZ retires from professional play to focus on life outside of gaming. The two-time international champion reflects on his career and future ambitions.
BollywoodFever: Valorant superstar TenZ, one of the most influential figures in the game’s competitive history, has announced his retirement from professional play.
Known for his incredible performances with Sentinels, where he amassed millions of fans and won multiple international titles, TenZ cited his desire to pursue interests outside of gaming and step back from the demanding pro schedule as his reasons for stepping away.
In a heartfelt statement, TenZ revealed, “I’ve known since the start of this year. I told myself, ‘This is my last year.’ It was definitely for me to give it my all and play without any regrets.” He expressed his ambitions beyond Valorant, explaining that he needed more time to chase goals outside of the game.
Although TenZ is officially leaving Sentinels’ starting roster, he didn’t entirely close the door on professional play, hinting that he might step in as a substitute if needed. However, his focus is now on content creation, which has been thriving on its own.
In a follow-up video, TenZ shared that he informed his teammates about his retirement decision before the Valorant Champions Seoul event. He described the choice as a “no-brainer” due to the success of his content and said his teammates understood and supported his decision.
TenZ is widely regarded as one of the best Duelist players in Valorant history, making some of the most critical matches look like one-sided victories.
He even showcased his versatility by switching roles toward the end of his career, playing Agents like Omen and Gekko instead of his signature Duelists, Reyna and Jett.
His adaptability contributed to Sentinels securing their second international title this year.
As the only North American player with two Masters event wins, TenZ retires on a high note, leaving an indelible mark on Valorant’s competitive landscape.
