Texans tight end Dalton Schultz missed practice this week due to an ankle injury suffered in last Sunday’s win over the Colts. His status for the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears remains uncertain.
BollywoodFever: Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz missed practice this week after injuring his ankle during last Sunday’s 29-27 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, multiple outlets reported Thursday.
While the injury, sustained early in the game, is not considered serious, Schultz did not participate in practices on Wednesday or Thursday. The team has listed it as an ankle issue. The Texans are set to face the Chicago Bears on Sunday night, but Schultz’s status for the game is still uncertain.
Schultz, 28, made three catches on three targets for 16 yards in the Colts game. Last season, his first with the Texans, he played in 15 regular-season games, starting eight, and recorded 59 receptions for 635 yards and five touchdowns. He also contributed in the playoffs, catching six passes for 80 yards and a touchdown over two games.
Schultz joined the Texans after spending five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys (2018-22). Over his career, he has accumulated 273 receptions for 2,773 yards and 22 touchdowns in 91 games, including 60 starts.
In other injury news, Texans safety M.J. Stewart did not practice Thursday due to a knee and quadriceps injury, and is expected to miss Sunday’s game, according to KPRC-TV in Houston.
Several other Texans players were limited in practice on Thursday, including wide receiver Nico Collins (illness), running back Dameon Pierce (hamstring), and offensive lineman Juice Scruggs (groin). Their availability for the upcoming game will be closely monitored.
