Top OTT Platforms In India By Subscribers

From 2019 or after COVID19 OTT platforms growing fast and releasing new contents almost everyday.

Here is the list of Top 5 OTT brands in India by paid subscribers 2021.

  1. DISNEY + HOTSTAR

IPL Kabaddi and some of the most popular Disney movies kept Hotstar way ahead of everyone else.

Disney Plus Hotstar is at the number 1 place with 46 Million active paid subscribers.

Its tie up with Jio and some other networks doing wonders for it.

Hotstar (also known as Disney+ Hotstar) is an Indian brand of subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming service owned by Novi Digital Entertainment of Star India and operated by Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, both divisions of The Walt Disney Company.

2. AMAZON PRIME

Amazon Prime is at the number second spot with 19 Million active paid subscribers.

Tamil and Telugu movies were the highlight in 2021 and earned some subscribers to it.

Amazon Prime Video, or simply Prime Video, is a subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming and rental service of Amazon.com, Inc., offered as a standalone service or as part of Amazon’s Prime subscription.

The service primarily distributes films and television series produced by Amazon Studios or licensed to Amazon, as Amazon Originals, with the service also hosting content from other providers, content add-ons, live sporting events, and video rental and purchasing services.

3. Sony Liv

Sony Liv is at the number 3 position with 17.5 Million paid subscribers.

The Kapil Sharma Show and Scam 1992 are the highlights this year.

SonyLIV is an Indian over-the-top freemium streaming platform owned by Sony Pictures Networks India.

SonyLIV was introduced in 2013 as the first OTT service in India.

As a streaming service, it is carrying content from its local networks, including films, television series, live sports matches and Original Programming, and also featuring content licensed from third-parties in India such as Lionsgate and ITV among others.

Since 2020, SonyLIV has taken more of an active role as producer and distributor for both films and television series, and to that end, offers a variety of original programming content through its online library.

4. ZEE 5

ZEE 5 is at 4 place with 17 Million active paid subscribers

Salman Khan‘s Radhe moved Zee 5 up 7 to 8 spots.

After the release of Radhe Zee 5 doing great in the movies coloumn.

ZEE5 is an Indian subscription video on-demand and over-the-top streaming service, run by Zee Entertainment Enterprises.

It was launched in India on 14 February 2018 with content in 12 languages.

 The ZEE5 mobile app is available on Web, Android, iOS, Smart TVs, among other devices.

 ZEE5 claimed 56 million monthly active users in December 2019.

5. NETFLIX

Netflix is still far behind in India may be the Price which causing it.

Netflix stands at number 5 with 5 Million active paid users.

Netflix, Inc. is an American subscription streaming service and production company.

Launched on August 29, 1997, it offers a library of films and television series through distribution deals as well as its own productions, known as Netflix Originals.
