At least nine people have been killed in an attack on a football pitch in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, according to Israeli media reports. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that a rocket struck the Majdal Shams area within the territory.
Most of the casualties are believed to be children and teenagers, adding to the tragedy of the incident.
The IDF has attributed the attack to Hezbollah. However, Mohamad Afif, head of Hezbollah’s media office, denied any involvement, stating, “We have no relation to the Majdel Shams incident in northern Israel, and all accusations are false.”
The region has seen increased tensions, with Israel’s military and Hezbollah exchanging cross-border fire since the Israel-Hamas conflict escalated in October.
This is a developing story, and further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
