Bollywood Fever: The body of a missing autistic girl was discovered in a Tennessee lake just minutes after a statewide search was launched.
Seven-year-old Serenity Alanna Marie Kinsey was found by a dive team in Douglas Lake near Dandridge shortly after 11 AM on Thursday.
Her family reported her missing around 5 AM when they realized she had left their home on Indian Creek Road during the night.
An Amber Alert was issued by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, but within an hour, her body was recovered from the nearby lake.
“We have a heartbreaking update on the search for Serenity Kinsey,” the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced. “A dive team located her body in a lake near her home a short time ago. Our hearts go out to her family during this difficult time.”
Serenity was last seen at her home around 1 AM, wearing black shorts and a blue t-shirt. Authorities described her as autistic and nonverbal when they launched the Amber Alert.
Tragically, about an hour later, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation updated that her body had been found. Serenity reportedly had an affinity for water and lived close to the lake.
No further information has been released by authorities at this time. The community mourns the loss of a young life and extends its deepest sympathies to Serenity’s family.
