West Ham United clinched their first Premier League victory of the season with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, thanks to second-half goals from Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen.
Bollywood Fever: West Ham United recorded their first Premier League win of the season with a commanding 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
The Hammers, led by manager David Moyes, overcame a lackluster first half to secure all three points with two well-taken goals in the second half.
The first half was a cagey affair, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut opportunities.
However, the game sprang into life in the second half when Tomas Soucek opened the scoring in the 67th minute. Soucek, known for his late runs into the box, capitalized on some poor defending from Palace.
The home side failed to clear the ball effectively, allowing Soucek to slot it home and break the deadlock.
Just five minutes later, West Ham doubled their lead through captain Jarrod Bowen.
Bowen received a brilliant cross-field pass from Max Kilman, cut inside onto his preferred left foot, and unleashed a powerful shot into the net, leaving Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita with no chance.
Crystal Palace, stung by the quick double blow, responded with a flurry of chances. Ismaila Sarr came closest to pulling one back for the Eagles, striking the woodwork as Palace pushed for a goal.
Despite their late pressure, West Ham’s defense, marshaled by Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd, stood firm to preserve their clean sheet.
The win provides a much-needed boost for West Ham, who will be pleased with their defensive solidity and clinical finishing.
For Crystal Palace, the result was a setback after a promising start to the season, and they will need to regroup quickly ahead of their next fixture.
West Ham’s victory lifts them up the Premier League table, while Crystal Palace will look to bounce back and improve on their performance in the coming weeks.
