BollywoodFever: The WNBA semifinals saw thrilling action on Friday as both series entered Game 3. The Minnesota Lynx took a 2-1 lead in their series with a 90-81 victory over the Connecticut Sun, while the Las Vegas Aces dominated the top-seeded New York Liberty 95-81, cutting the Liberty’s series lead to 2-1.
Lynx 90, Sun 81
The Minnesota Lynx pulled off an impressive road win against the Connecticut Sun, fueled by Napheesa Collier’s 26 points and 11 rebounds. Minnesota’s hot shooting, at 57.4 percent, gave them the edge. Courtney Williams also shined with 16 points and eight assists, helping maintain control after the Lynx built an early lead. The Sun, led by Brionna Jones’ 21 points, struggled offensively, hitting just 3-of-20 from beyond the arc. Minnesota led throughout the game, withstanding Connecticut’s late push, and now looks to close out the series in Game 4 on Sunday.
Aces 95, Liberty 81
A tight game quickly shifted in Las Vegas’ favor when the Aces went on a massive 17-0 third-quarter run, transforming a slim 56-53 lead into a 73-53 blowout. Jackie Young led the Aces with 24 points, while Kelsey Plum added 20 points, and MVP A’ja Wilson contributed a dominant 19-point, 14-rebound double-double. Las Vegas shot 52.1 percent from the field, and Tiffany Hayes provided a spark off the bench with 11 points. The Liberty, led by Breanna Stewart’s 19 points, couldn’t recover, especially after Jonquel Jones was sidelined with foul trouble. Sabrina Ionescu, who had averaged 27.0 PPG in her last three outings, was held to just four points.
The Aces will look to even the series at home in Game 4 on Sunday.
