Bollywood Fever: German track star Alica Schmidt, often referred to as the ‘world’s sexiest athlete,’ is officially headed to Paris for the Olympic Games. Schmidt, 25, shared the emotional moment she learned she made the German Olympic team through a heartfelt video posted on her TikTok account over the weekend.
In the video, Schmidt is seen on the phone, visibly emotional, wiping away tears as she processes the exciting news. The text overlay on the video read, “When you get the call that you’ve made the Olympic team,” accompanied by a teary-eyed emoji.
Schmidt had already qualified for the Olympics in May, but the recent call from a German Olympic committee official confirmed her place in Paris.
The German athlete, who has over seven million followers on Instagram and TikTok combined, first gained the title of ‘world’s sexiest athlete’ from Australian magazine Busted Coverage in 2017. Since then, she has gone viral on social media multiple times.
Although Schmidt qualified for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, she did not compete. This year, she has qualified for the 4×400 meter relay, and if she competes, it will mark her debut on track’s biggest stage.
Sharing her excitement and gratitude on social media, Schmidt said, “My biggest dream came true! In just one month, I will be in Paris, creating memories that will last a lifetime. This thought has been my motivation every single day for several years now, reminding me of why it is important to never give up on my goals and to put in the work.”
She continued, “No matter how big your dreams are, if you stay committed and believe in yourself, good things will come your way.”
As Schmidt prepares for her Olympic debut, her journey to Paris stands as a testament to dedication and perseverance, inspiring her millions of followers and aspiring athletes worldwide.
