Anna Delvey Joins ‘Dancing With the Stars’ for New Season, Plans to Have Fun While on House Arrest

Convicted fraudster Anna Delvey is set to join Dancing With the Stars while on house arrest. The former fake heiress will compete wearing an ankle monitor, aiming to have fun and stay active.

Bollywood Fever: Anna Delvey, the infamous fake German heiress and convicted fraudster, is ready for her next adventure—this time on the dance floor. The Inventing Anna inspiration has joined the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars, which will air on ABC and Disney+ starting September 17.

Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, gained notoriety after conning Manhattan’s elite out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Her story was immortalized in New York magazine and later adapted into the Netflix series Inventing Anna, with Julia Garner playing Delvey.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter after the DWTS cast reveal, Delvey admitted she was initially reluctant to join the competition but was eventually convinced. After securing permission from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), she agreed to participate, even though she remains on house arrest while fighting deportation.

“I kind of got talked into doing this. I got the permission from ICE and then it was kind of too late to back out,” Delvey shared. She will compete with an ankle monitor, which she insisted won’t affect her dancing performances. “It’s actually pretty light,” she remarked, jokingly offering the interviewer a chance to feel the bracelet.

Delvey will be partnered with professional dancer Ezra Sosa, a newcomer to the show. Sosa praised Delvey’s dance ability and expressed excitement for viewers to see “the real Anna Delvey,” a side of her that he believes the media has misrepresented.

In addition to Delvey, the star-studded DWTS cast includes NBA player Dwight Howard, actor Eric Roberts, model Brooks Nader, Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik, and The Bachelorette’s Jenn Tran, whose engagement recently ended in heartbreak after the show’s finale.

Despite her legal troubles, Delvey is looking forward to the experience. “I just want to have some fun and maybe get in a little workout,” she said, eyeing the competition as a way to break from her otherwise restricted lifestyle.

Dancing With the Stars returns on September 17, airing on ABC and Disney+, with next-day streaming available on Hulu.
