Dearica Hamby of the Los Angeles Sparks wins the 2024 Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award, honoring her ethical play and leadership in her 10th WNBA season.
BollywoodFever: Forward Dearica Hamby of the Los Angeles Sparks has been honored with the 2024 Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award, the WNBA announced on Wednesday. This marks the first time Hamby, 30, has received this prestigious award, which is named in memory of Kim Perrot, who passed away in 1999 after playing a key role in the Houston Comets’ WNBA title wins in 1997 and 1998.

The Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award is given annually to a WNBA player who demonstrates ethical behavior, integrity, and fair play on the court, embodying the values of sportsmanship. “I am incredibly grateful to be recognized with the Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award,” Hamby shared. This is especially meaningful at this point in my career because it represents values that go beyond winning, and to be recognized for that means a lot to me. Being on this list alongside some of the most highly respected players in our league is truly humbling.
Hamby, now in her 10th season, had a standout year, posting career highs with 17.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. She started all 40 games for the Sparks, earning her third All-Star selection while leading the team in both points and rebounds.
Hamby, a two-time WNBA Sixth Player of the Year (2019, 2020), received 12 votes to win the award. She finished ahead of Las Vegas Aces forward Alysha Clark (nine votes), Connecticut Sun forward Brionna Jones (eight), Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier (six), and Washington Mystics guard Ariel Atkins (six).
