General Motors Recalls Over 449,000 SUVs and Trucks Due to Potential Brake Warning Light Failure
GM recalls more than 449,000 Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC SUVs and trucks due to a brake warning light issue. A free software update will be provided.
Bollywoodfever: General Motors has issued a recall for more than 449,000 SUVs and pickup trucks from its 2023 and 2024 models due to a potential software issue with the electronic brake control module. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall, warning that the affected vehicles may not display a warning light when a loss of brake fluid occurs, increasing the risk of reduced braking performance and potential crashes.

Affected Models:
The recall includes certain models from Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC:
- 2023-2024 Cadillac Escalade
- 2023-2024 Cadillac Escalade ESV
- 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
- 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe
- 2023-2024 Chevrolet Suburban 1500
- 2023 GMC Sierra 1500
- 2023-2024 GMC Yukon
- 2023-2024 GMC Yukon XL
Without the proper warning light, drivers may unknowingly operate their vehicles with low brake fluid, which could lead to reduced braking performance and an increased risk of accidents.
Free Software Update and Owner Notification:
General Motors will provide affected vehicle owners with a free software update to correct the issue. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on October 28, 2024.
