Jorge Martin Sets Lap Record to Take Pole Position at Austrian Grand Prix
Jorge Martin of Prima Pramac Racing sets a lap record to secure pole position at the Austrian Grand Prix, ahead of Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez.
Bollywood Fever: World championship leader Jorge Martin of Prima Pramac Racing set a new lap record to claim pole position at the Austrian Grand Prix on Saturday. The Spaniard, who currently holds a three-point lead over Francesco Bagnaia in the championship standings, clocked a blistering time of one minute 27.748 seconds at the Red Bull Ring.
Despite nursing a minor finger injury, Martin delivered a stellar performance. “It was difficult. Yesterday I had this cut on my finger that I thought was going to get better, but this morning it was really painful. They just stitched me and at least I can ride,” Martin explained. “While riding is not a big problem, it obviously disturbs me a little bit. But now I feel confident for the evening. (This is) a really nice track for me.”

Bagnaia, who dominated Friday’s practice sessions, secured the second-fastest time, placing him on the front row alongside Martin. Six-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez, currently fourth in the championship, completed the front row with a strong performance.
Aleix Espargaro was fourth quickest, followed by Jack Miller, Maverick Vinales, and Enea Bastianini in fifth, sixth, and seventh positions, respectively. Martin’s pole position sets the stage for an exciting sprint, where he will aim to extend his championship lead.
