Kelly Oubre Jr. and Nick Nurse Each Penalized with $50k Fines for Confronting Referees
BollywoodFever, March 30: Philadelphia 76ers player Kelly Oubre Jr. and Head Coach Nick Nurse are facing financial repercussions from the NBA, as both were fined $50k for their intense reactions toward referees following a narrow 108-107 defeat against the Clippers last Wednesday.
The game’s conclusion was mired in controversy when, in the final moments, Oubre, in an attempt to score a decisive basket, made contact with Paul George but received no foul call. This omission incited fury from Oubre and Nurse, with Oubre going as far as making an obscene gesture towards the officials, prompting intervention from Sixers staff to prevent any escalation.

Oubre, also known by his moniker Tsunami Papi, anticipated a fine for his outburst, acknowledging the inevitability of league discipline for “verbally abusing and directing an obscene gesture” towards the game officials. Nurse faced fines for “aggressively pursuing and verbally abusing game officials.”
Expressing regret for his conduct, Oubre sought forgiveness, admitting, “I want to apologize for just losing my cool… It wasn’t cool, so I’ll take whatever penalties come with that.”
Despite the substantial fine, former NBA player Lou Williams speculated that Oubre might have incurred an even greater penalty, humorously noting, “This is $25,000 per bitch, without a doubt.” Fortunately for Oubre, Williams’ prediction did not materialize.
