Nebraska’s Lexi Rodriguez Named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week
Nebraska’s Lexi Rodriguez earns Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors after averaging 4.71 digs per set in two wins over UCLA and USC, marking her sixth career weekly award.
BollywoodFever: Nebraska volleyball senior libero Lexi Rodriguez has once again earned recognition for her stellar defensive play, being named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. This accolade comes after a standout week in which Rodriguez helped the Huskers secure two crucial wins.
Rodriguez delivered a season-high 20 digs in Nebraska’s 3-1 victory over UCLA on Friday and followed up with 13 digs in a sweep against 20th-ranked USC on Sunday. Her defensive efforts were key in limiting both teams to their worst hitting percentages of the season, with UCLA hitting .153 and USC just .137. Over the two matches, Rodriguez averaged 4.71 digs per set, the second-best mark in the Big Ten for the week.

This is Rodriguez’s first weekly conference honor of the season, but it marks the sixth of her illustrious career. The three-time All-American and two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year continues to be a force on the court, anchoring Nebraska’s defense.
Rodriguez and the Huskers will now head on the road for their first Big Ten away game, facing Illinois in Champaign on Thursday before returning home to take on Iowa at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Sunday.
