Nicola Peltz Beckham Sues Dog Groomer Over Pet Chihuahua’s Death

Actress Nicola Peltz Beckham takes legal action against HoundSpa and groomer Jony Ceballos, alleging negligence and abuse that led to her chihuahua Nala’s death.

Bollywood Fever: Nicola Peltz Beckham has reportedly taken legal action against a groomer following the tragic death of her pet dog, Nala. 

The 29-year-old actress has filed a lawsuit against HoundSpa, alleging that their groomer, Jony Ceballos, is responsible for her chihuahua’s death.

According to TMZ, the lawsuit claims that Ceballos has a history of “intentional and malicious abuse of dogs.” Nicola alleges that Nala was left injured and in severe physical distress after a routine grooming session in HoundSpa’s mobile van. 

She is also taking action against HoundSpa owner Deborah “Deb” Gittleman for retaining Ceballos despite previous complaints about his behavior towards animals.

Nicola expressed her emotional distress over the incident, especially since she witnessed Nala’s death after rushing her to the vet following the grooming. 

The actress’s other dog, Angel, now reportedly screams and shakes in terror when left alone, following another grooming treatment.

Nicola, who first confirmed Nala’s death in June, decided to take legal action after learning that other pet owners had similar experiences with dog groomers. 

In a statement to MailOnline, she said, “I am truly still in so much shock and pain over my baby Nala suddenly passing last month following what should have been a routine grooming session. 

I posted the experience on my Instagram to bring awareness and was heartbroken to hear the horrifying stories from so many others who have experienced the same tragedy. I can’t bear it. I’m outraged to hear how common stories like Nala’s are.”

She continued, “We need to do better and change the laws to better protect pets and the loving owners who care for them. Our pets are our chosen family. I’ve dedicated most of my life to saving dogs and I can’t in good conscience let this horrifying act happen to more families. I will work for changes and laws to help make sure no one else ever has to experience this heartbreak.”

According to TMZ’s sources, veterinary records indicated that Nala had fluid in her lungs, neurological problems, and a rapid heart rate before her death, though the exact cause remains unknown. 

Nicola and her husband, Brooklyn Beckham, had previously used the grooming service without any issues.

Sources claim that Nicola’s legal action is motivated not by money but by a desire to prevent similar tragedies. Nicola, an advocate for animal rights, is seeking answers about Nala’s time with the groomer. 

However, there were no cameras in the grooming van, raising questions about what happened inside.

Nicola previously stated on Instagram that Nala had been “perfectly healthy” before her grooming treatment. 

She wrote, “This has been the hardest month of my life. I can’t even find the words to describe my heartbreak on so many levels. Nala was perfectly healthy when she went to the groomers yesterday but came out hyperventilating and couldn’t catch her breath. 

We rushed her to the vet and she passed hours later. I’m sharing this in hopes that it might prevent this from happening to other dogs. Her life was taken away from her way too soon. 

She was my beautiful queen and stayed by my side for 9 years through everything. Please be careful who you send your dogs to because you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. 1 day without Nala on earth feels like an eternity. I wish I could have her back in my arms. I pray she’s with my Naunni. I hope I see them soon.”

Brooklyn also took to social media on June 15 to announce the loss and pay tribute to their beloved pet. “Dear Nala, we miss you so much. You were unexpectedly taken from us way too soon and hope others don’t experience a loss after something as simple as a grooming,” he wrote alongside a photo of himself holding Nala. “You were the cutest little baby girl and we will always think of you. We know you are looking and barking down on us. We love you so much and miss you beyond.”

Nicola Peltz Beckham’s legal action aims to bring awareness and push for stricter regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of pets during grooming and other care services.
