Wolfgang Wienand Appointed as New CEO of Lonza, Succeeding Interim CEO Albert Baehny
Swiss pharmaceutical contract manufacturing company Lonza announced on Tuesday that Wolfgang Wienand, currently CEO of Siegfried Holding, will be taking over as its new chief executive.
Since 2019, Wienand has been at the helm of Siegfried, a Swiss firm specializing in contract development and manufacturing (CDMO), focusing on pharmaceutical ingredients and finished products. He will succeed Albert Baehny, who has filled the role of interim CEO at Lonza since October 2023.
Wienand is set to commence his role at the Basel-headquartered Lonza in the summer of 2024, following a transitional period after which Baehny will retire.

Prior to his leadership role, Wienand served as chief scientific officer and chief strategy officer at Siegfried, contributing significantly to its operations.
Albert Baehny, Chairman of Lonza, expressed his pleasure at Wienand’s appointment, highlighting his extensive experience and successful track record in the CDMO sector.
“Wolfgang brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Lonza, complemented by his deep scientific and strategic expertise,” Baehny stated, underlining the positive impact Wienand is anticipated to bring to Lonza.
