Abbey Gile, ex-girlfriend of Zach Wilson, is engaged to his former BYU teammate Dax Milne. The couple announced their engagement with a beach proposal, sharing the news on social media.
Bollywood Fever: In a surprising turn of events, Zach Wilson‘s ex-girlfriend Abbey Gile is now engaged to his former BYU roommate and teammate, Dax Milne. On Monday, Milne, a receiver for the Washington Commanders, posted pictures of his beach proposal to Gile, capturing the moment she said yes. The newly engaged couple also posed for a selfie, with Gile flashing her massive diamond ring.
“She said yes,” Milne wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a heart and ring emoji.
Gile and Wilson dated from high school through 2022 before their relationship ended in controversy. Gile was labeled a “homie hopper” after she began dating Milne, who was not only Wilson’s college roommate but also a childhood friend. Gile turned the tables on Wilson by revealing that he had been romantically involved with one of his mother’s friends, which she cited as the reason for their breakup.
“He was sleeping with his mom’s best friend… that’s the real homie hopper,” Gile wrote in a comment at the time.
Wilson never confirmed the rumors, while his mom, Lisa Wilson, faced numerous inquiries from people trying to identify the friend involved with her son.
Despite the drama, many congratulated Milne and Gile on their engagement. However, some noted the proximity of their engagement to Wilson’s recent proposal to his girlfriend, model Nicolette Dellanno. Wilson, the Denver Broncos quarterback, proposed to Dellanno on June 30 in front of the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Upon returning to the United States, the couple was seen enjoying each other’s company during the Wilson family’s Fourth of July getaway in Utah.
Milne and Gile’s relationship, already a topic of interest, drew further attention amid a similar controversy involving Kelly Stafford, the wife of LA Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. Kelly admitted she dated Stafford’s backup quarterback in college to make him jealous, which led to fans speculating about the identity of the backup and criticizing her for making the claims public.
Zach Wilson, who was drafted by the New York Jets with the second overall pick in 2021, saw increased playing time last season after Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles tear on opening night. Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos along with draft picks in the sixth and seventh rounds.
As Wilson prepares to compete for minutes against Jarrett Stidham and Bo Nix, he expressed optimism about his fresh start in Denver during OTAs in May, stating, “I’m excited for the challenge.”
The Denver Broncos will open their season against the Seattle Seahawks on September 8.
