3 People Killed In Suburban Philadelphia Shooting

A suspect has taken refuge inside a home in New Jersey, holding hostages after fatally shooting three individuals in suburban Philadelphia.

The incident on Saturday morning in Falls Township, located in eastern Pennsylvania, led to the cancellation of a St. Patrick’s Day parade and the closure of a children’s theme park. Bucks County authorities implemented a shelter-in-place order for several hours, which was lifted by the early afternoon.

The police identified the suspect as a 26-year-old man without a permanent residence, who had acquaintances among the victims.

According to a statement from the Falls Township police, the shootings took place at two different sites within the township. Following the shootings, the suspect hijacked a vehicle and fled to Trenton, New Jersey, where he then barricaded himself inside a residence with hostages.

Middletown Township police noted that the suspect is connected to addresses in both Bucks and Trenton, with a primary residence in Trenton. Shaun Murphy, a resident of the Levittown area in Falls Township, mentioned he was on his way to the parade when he encountered the roadblock.

“Everyone in the neighborhood was outside trying to figure out what was happening, and then we received the shelter-in-place alert,” Murphy stated.
