2024 Met Gala Breaks Fundraising Record with $26 Million
The 2024 Met Gala raised more than $26 million, setting a record for the annual event known for its star-studded guest list from fashion, film, TV, sports, music, business, and more, the museum announced.
The gala, held on Monday evening, serves as a fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute and was sponsored by TikTok and the fashion label Loewe. The event was led by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, alongside hosts Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Zendaya, and Chris Hemsworth.
Tables for the dinner, accommodating 10 guests, started at $350,000. The theme, “The Garden of Time,” was reflected in the decor, featuring a 32-foot “whimsical tree” centerpiece in the museum’s Great Hall, embracing a fairytale motif.
The gala also marked the opening of the Costume Institute’s spring exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which will be open to the public starting Friday.
