Locker Room Celebration After Caitlin Clark Makes WNBA History with First Rookie Triple-Double
Locker Room Celebration After Caitlin Clark Makes WNBA History with First Rookie Triple-Double, Caitlin Clark records the first-ever rookie triple-double in WNBA history, strengthening her Rookie of the Year credentials. Her humble reaction and team-first attitude win fans over on social media.
Bollywood Fever: Caitlin Clark became the center of attention in the Indiana Fever locker room on Saturday night after recording the first-ever rookie triple-double in WNBA history.
Her outstanding performance against the Phoenix Mercury further bolstered her Rookie of the Year credentials, prompting her teammates to shower her with praise—and water—after the game.

In a heartwarming moment captured on video, Clark is commended by her head coach, Christie Sides, before being doused with water by her delighted colleagues. “First time for a rookie to get a triple-double in franchise history,” Sides announced, pointing to Clark seated beside her. This sparked jubilant scenes, with the team rushing over to drench her with water, much to Clark’s surprise.
Sitting through the display of affection, Clark wrung out her jersey and was handed the game ball. Her reaction further endeared her to fans as she praised her teammates rather than taking all the credit herself. “Great job everybody,” the 22-year-old can be heard saying.
Fans quickly took to social media to praise Clark’s humble reaction, with one noting, “Doesn’t like to draw attention to herself in intimate moments or in the locker room. She shows her true self on the court… what a team player and person… great job Caitlin Clark you are truly special.” Another added, “Of course, she gives a team shoutout because she’s the most humble player in the WNBA!!!!”

In the 83-78 victory over the New York Liberty, Clark tallied 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists. The No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft was one rebound shy of a triple-double two games ago in an 88-82 road victory over the Phoenix Mercury. Clark had 11 points in the first quarter, making 3 of 4 from 3-point range. She reached double figures in assists by the third quarter and surpassed the 10-rebound mark in the fourth.
Despite her historic performance, not everyone in the WNBA agrees on who should win Rookie of the Year. Angel Reese‘s Chicago Sky teammates, for instance, firmly support the Bayou Barbie. Chennedy Carter, who led the team with 33 points in Chicago’s recent win over Seattle, told the ION broadcast that Reese deserves to be the front-runner for Rookie of the Year, not Clark. “Barbie’s Rookie of the Year. There’s no other way to put it,” said Carter. “She goes out, she does her work every single night, no matter what team we’re facing. I’m telling you, Barbie’s Rookie of the Year, for sure.”
As the debate continues, Caitlin Clark’s remarkable achievements and team-first mentality have undoubtedly captured the hearts of fans and secured her place in WNBA history.
