Armie Hammer Trades Beloved Truck for Hybrid as He Returns to Los Angeles to Start Anew
Armie Hammer returns to Los Angeles, trading in his truck for a hybrid car as he begins a “new life” after retreating to the Cayman Islands following a controversial scandal.
Bollywood Fever: Actor Armie Hammer is back in Los Angeles and making significant changes as he starts a new chapter in his life.
The Call Me by Your Name star shared on social media that he recently traded in his cherished truck for a more economical hybrid vehicle, marking a symbolic shift as he returns to California after spending time in the Cayman Islands.
In a video recorded at a California CarMax, Hammer recounted his history with the truck, which he bought as a Christmas gift for himself in 2017.
The vehicle, which has been with him through cross-country trips, camping adventures, and significant family moments, now represents a past he is ready to move on from.
“Since being back in L.A., I have put about $400 or $500 worth of gas in it, and I can’t afford it. I can’t afford the gas anymore,” Hammer explained.

He added that the decision to trade the truck for a hybrid that only requires “10 bucks of gas in it a month” reflects his need to adjust to his new financial reality and lifestyle.
Hammer’s return to Los Angeles comes after a period of retreat in the Cayman Islands, where he worked as a timeshare salesman following a series of high-profile scandals.
In 2021, Hammer faced allegations of rape, cannibalism, and sexual misconduct, which severely impacted his career and public image.
Despite the controversy, Hammer expressed a sense of gratitude for the challenges he has faced. In a June interview on the Painful Lessons podcast, he reflected, “I’m actually now at a place where I’m really grateful for it because where I was in my life before all of that stuff happened to me, I didn’t feel good. I never felt satisfied.”
Hammer’s return to Los Angeles and his decision to trade in his truck symbolizes a fresh start as he attempts to rebuild his life and career.
With a new, more sustainable vehicle and a renewed outlook, Hammer is looking forward to what lies ahead.
