With Iowa leading comfortably, Brent advised his daughter, one of collegiate basketball’s most revered players, to refrain from arguing with the referees.
Clark, known for her competitiveness and high standards, struggled with her shooting, missing nine of her first 12 attempts. This rocky start was uncharacteristic for Clark, who had set high expectations for herself following an exceptional 2023/24 season.

The Iowa Hawkeyes sailed past Holy Cross with a commanding 26-point victory, showcasing their strength by leading by up to 31 points. Caitlin Clark, despite early struggles, rebounded to lead all scorers with 27 points, sinking 8 of her 19 shots, including five of her last seven attempts.
Clark’s influence extended beyond scoring; her vision and passing were pivotal as Iowa began to extend their lead in the second quarter.
With 10 assists and eight rebounds, Clark nearly achieved a triple-double, underscoring her versatility and impact on the game.
Looking ahead, Iowa, now in the tournament’s second round, anticipates their next challenge, which will be the winner between West Virginia and Princeton.
