Challa Sreenivasulu Setty Recommended as Next Chairman of State Bank of India
The Financial Services Institutions Board has recommended Challa Sreenivasulu Setty as the next chairman of the State Bank of India, succeeding Dinesh Khara who retires on August 28.
India, Bollywood Fever: An Indian government panel has recommended Challa Sreenivasulu Setty as the next chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest bank by assets. The current chairman, Dinesh Khara, is set to retire on August 28.
The Financial Services Institutions Board (FSIB), responsible for selecting candidates for top positions in state-run banks and institutions, interviewed three candidates on June 29 before choosing Setty for the role. The FSIB’s recommendation will now be reviewed by the federal government, which will make the final decision on appointing Khara’s successor.
Setty, one of the four managing directors at SBI, currently oversees the bank’s international banking, global markets, and technology departments. His extensive experience within the bank positions him well to take on the role of chairman, continuing SBI’s legacy of leadership and innovation in the banking sector.
The transition marks a significant moment for SBI as it prepares for new leadership while maintaining its status as India’s largest lender.
