Jeremy Piven humorously comments on Melissa George’s reluctance to discuss “Home And Away” during an Australian radio show appearance, showcasing his openness to embracing past roles.
BollywoodFever, March 21: Jeremy Piven, celebrated for his iconic role as Ari Gold in “Entourage,” shared his thoughts on Australian radio, humorously addressing Melissa George’s perspective on discussing “Home And Away,” the show that marked her early career.
While speaking on the 2DAY FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin show, Piven expressed his openness to celebrating past achievements and roles, a stance that contrasts with some actors’ desires to distance themselves from their early work. Erin Molan, one of the show’s co-hosts, highlighted this difference by referencing Melissa George’s known reluctance to talk about her time on “Home and Away.”
“Many actors find it challenging to revisit roles that defined their early career, but you seem to embrace your past work enthusiastically. For instance, Melissa George has made it clear she prefers not to discuss her ‘Home and Away’ days. Your thoughts?” Molan inquired.
Piven’s response was straightforward and lighthearted: “Melissa George really needs to embrace a bit more gratitude. Perhaps a personal TED talk on the matter at her place could be enlightening,” he joked.
Melissa George’s discomfort with revisiting her role as Angel Brooks in “Home and Away,” a part she played from 1993 to 1996, came to a head in 2012 during a tense interview on Seven’s The Morning Show. The incident, which resulted in George expressing frustration over the continuous focus on her early work, sparked discussions on the impact of typecasting and actors’ career trajectories.
On the flip side, Piven has consistently shown appreciation for “Entourage,” not only acknowledging the show’s influence on his career but also actively engaging with fans about his role. His portrayal of Ari Gold not only brought him critical acclaim, including three Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe but also solidified his reputation as a versatile actor capable of delivering powerful performances in comedy.
Next month, Australian fans will have the opportunity to see Piven live as he brings his comedic talent to the stage in Melbourne and Sydney, promising an evening filled with laughter and entertainment.
