Following a crucial win over the Miami Heat, the Dallas Mavericks (36-28) continued their momentum by defeating the Detroit Pistons (10-53), with a final score of 142-124.

The game began with the Mavericks quickly taking the lead, thanks to a three-pointer from Luka Doncic, establishing an early 13-6 advantage. The Pistons, however, mounted a comeback with a 6-0 run, closing the gap to just one point. A pivotal moment came when Detroit capitalized on a turnover, leading to a spectacular alley-oop dunk from James Wiseman, courtesy of Cade Cunningham, putting the Pistons ahead 18-17.

The first quarter remained closely contested, ending with the Mavericks slightly ahead, 35-33. Kyrie Irving shone in the early stages, amassing 11 points to lead the scoring, though he didn’t add to his tally for the rest of the half.

The second quarter saw both Doncic and Cunningham pushing their teams forward, with Dallas managing to hold a slender lead at various points, despite Detroit’s efforts to close the gap by focusing defensively on Doncic.

Entering this game, Doncic was riding the wave of a historic streak, having achieved a 30-point triple-double in five consecutive games. By halftime, he had already tallied 26 points, six assists, and five rebounds, marking his seventh occasion this season to record at least 25 points, five assists, and five rebounds in a half—a feat only achieved four times by the rest of the league combined. Cunningham mirrored Doncic’s performance closely, ending the half with 24 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
