Marvel Unveils Cast for ‘Fantastic Four’ Movie

Marvel Studios has officially announced the cast for its upcoming feature film, “The Fantastic Four.” Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn have been tapped to portray the iconic heroes.

Previously reported to star as Reed Richard/Mr. Fantastic, Pascal leads the cast, while Kirby takes on the role of Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman. Joseph Quinn is set to play her brother, Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Moss-Bachrach will portray Ben Grimm/The Thing.

The casting announcement follows years of speculation surrounding the superhero team’s big-screen adaptation. Directed by Matt Shakman, known for his work on “WandaVision,” the film is slated for release on July 25, 2025. Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer have penned early drafts of the script, with Josh Friedman, writer of “Avatar: The Way of Water,” contributing to the latest version.

In a related development, Disney has adjusted the release date of “Fantastic Four” from May 5, 2025, to July 25, 2025. This change comes as the cast was only recently finalized. However, Marvel remains committed to the prime May slot, traditionally marking the start of the summer box office season. Consequently, “Fantastic Four” has swapped dates with the anti-hero focused film “Thunderbolts,” now scheduled for release on May 5.

The Fantastic Four holds a special place in Marvel lore, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961’s “Fantastic Four No. 1.” Despite multiple attempts at adaptation, including a low-budget version in 1994 and a series of films in the 2000s, the team has yet to receive a definitive big-screen portrayal. With Disney’s acquisition of Fox, the Fantastic Four now has the opportunity to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The casting process for the superhero ensemble has been closely followed, with various fan-casting speculations circulating online. Notably, John Krasinski briefly portrayed a version of Reed Richards in 2022’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
