After participating for two seasons, Sanya Richards-Ross has decided to leave “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
Andy Cohen, on his Sirius XM program “Andy Cohen Live,” confirmed the departure of the 39-year-old Olympic track and field champion. This decision comes amid an extended break between the filming of seasons 15 and 16.
Cohen’s revelation came during a discussion with Mariah Smith, where he inquired, “How do you feel about Kandi [Burruss], Sanya, and Marlo [Hampton] leaving the show?” This statement quickly circulated on social media, surprising fans with the casual mention of Richards-Ross’s exit alongside previously confirmed departures of Burruss and Hampton.
Fan Reactions to the Casual Announcement
A tweet from a fan highlighted, “Andy casually announced Sanya is leaving #RHOA although it was never officially announced in the press.”
Richards-Ross, who welcomed her second child with husband Aaron Ross in December, has not yet made a public statement regarding her exit, unlike her former co-stars.
Kandi Burruss and Marlo Hampton’s Prior Exits
Her departure follows Kandi Burruss’s announcement at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards that she would not return for the 16th season after 14 seasons on the show, making her the longest-serving Housewife in the franchise.
Burruss cited the long hiatus as a period that allowed her to pursue other projects and hinted at upcoming significant announcements.
Shortly after, Marlo Hampton, 47, also confirmed her exit from the show to People, stating her contract concluded with season 15, which finished filming in January 2023.
The future participation of season 15 cast members Kenya Moore, Shereé Whitfield, and Drew Sidora in season 16 remains uncertain, as does the filming schedule for the new season.
