Originally from Wheeling, West Virginia, Sparks distinguished herself as an All-American collegiate golfer during her time at Duke University. Her notable achievements began with winning the 1992 North and South Women’s Amateur at Pinehurst. She was a member of the 1994 U.S. Curtis Cup team but her promising professional career was cut short by injuries after only one season on the LPGA Tour in 2000, due to chronic back pain.

Beyond her golfing career, Sparks ventured into acting, portraying three-time U.S. Women’s Amateur champion Alexa Stirling in the 2004 film “Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius,” where she starred opposite Jim Caviezel. Her television career expanded with roles on other Golf Channel shows, including “Golf with Style” and “Playing Lessons with the Pros,” and she occasionally worked as an on-camera reporter at tournaments.

A private family service is scheduled to take place at Kepner Funeral Home in Elm Grove, West Virginia.
