Herman had formed a close bond not only with Woods but also with his two children from his previous marriage with Nordegren.

The trio was frequently spotted together in the crowds at Woods’ tournaments, often donning matching outfits, as was the case at the 2017 Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. According to a source, the children were fond of Herman and enjoyed spending time with her.

During Woods’ induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2022, his daughter Sam delivered a touching speech that highlighted the family’s strong bond, including Herman. Sam expressed how the family had always stuck together through thick and thin, and that they were a team that included Woods, his children, Herman, and even his grandmother Kultida Woods.

It is clear that Herman had formed a strong bond with Woods’ children, and this connection was evident in their frequent public appearances together.

Sam’s heartfelt words at her father’s induction ceremony further solidified the idea that Herman was an integral part of their family unit and would always be considered as such.

Wood Erica Herman’s relation in 2021

On February 23, 2021, Woods encountered a significant setback in his recovery journey following a serious car accident in Los Angeles. The accident caused his car to hit a center divider and roll over, resulting in “multiple leg injuries” that required immediate surgery, according to his agent Mark Steinberg. Among his injuries were fractures to his right tibia and fibula bones, as well as additional injuries in his foot and ankle.

Woods was uncertain about his future following the crash, unsure if he would ever walk again, let alone return to golf. However, Herman played a critical role in his recovery, as Woods shared in an interview with Golf Digest. Despite the circumstances, he requested that Herman and friend Rob McNamara toss objects his way while he was still in the hospital, testing to see if he still had the use of his hands.

Following months of grueling rehabilitation, which Woods described as the most painful experience of his life, he finally returned to the golf course in December 2021 to play in the PNC Championship with his son. Herman, alongside Woods’ daughter and ex-wife Nordegren, was present on the sidelines, cheering him on as he made his comeback. It was a triumphant moment for Woods, who overcame significant physical and emotional challenges with the support of his loved ones, including Herman.

Erica’s Lawsuit against Woods

According to court records obtained by USA TODAY Sports, a domestic dispute between Tiger Woods and his former girlfriend, Erica Herman, has escalated to the courts in Florida. Woods allegedly broke up with Herman in October and had her locked out of their shared seaside mansion on the Treasure Coast. In response, Herman filed a lawsuit against a homestead trust controlled by Woods in Hobe Sound, Florida, seeking damages of over $30 million.

Herman claims that the trust and its agents misappropriated $40,000 of her cash and made “scurrilous and defamatory allegations” about how she obtained the money. The lawsuit further states that Herman had an “oral tenancy agreement” to stay at the home for five more years after living there for six years before the breakup. Herman also argues that her non-disclosure agreement with Woods from 2017 is unenforceable under the federal Speak Out Act, which prohibits the enforceability of such agreements in disputes involving sexual assault or harassment.

The two lawsuits are linked, as Woods’ trust attorneys attempt to enforce the NDA and move the dispute out of the public court and into private arbitration. While the first lawsuit was filed against the trust in October, it was not previously reported until recently. Herman’s claims against the trust have brought the domestic dispute between her and Woods into the public eye, highlighting the complex legal battles that can arise in high-profile relationships.

Lawsuit against the trust

“Plaintiff has continually demanded to be allowed back into her home, but Defendant’s agents have refused,” said Herman’s lawsuit against the trust.

The lawsuit claims that the trust and its agents misappropriated $40,000 of her cash and made defamatory allegations about how she obtained the money. Herman is seeking damages of more than $30 million and arguing that she had an “oral tenancy agreement” to remain at the residence for five more years after being in effect for six years before the breakup.

Herman has also sued Woods separately, asking the court to release her from her non-disclosure agreement (NDA) from 2017. She argued that the NDA is not enforceable under the federal Speak Out Act, which prohibits the judicial enforceability of such agreements in disputes involving sexual assault or harassment. The trust has responded by asking the court to compel confidential arbitration for the dispute, stating that the NDA requires arbitration for such disputes, and Herman sued the trust instead of Woods to avoid this requirement and gain leverage by litigating her disputes with him in a public forum.

The trust claimed that Woods established it in 2017, and its only potential beneficiaries are Woods and his children, with its only asset being its ownership interest in the residence. The trust stated that Herman was invited to live in the residence while in a relationship with Woods, but after he terminated the relationship, she was advised that she was no longer welcome. However, Herman has cited the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act of 2021, which invalidates arbitration agreements that prevent a party from filing a lawsuit in court involving sexual assault and harassment.

Herman’s lawsuit against the trust stated that “all expenses that related to Plaintiffs residency, or that resulted therefrom, were to be fully paid by the Defendant or its privies.” It also states damages will be determined at trial “but is likely to be measured in excess of $30,000,000, given the substantial monthly rental value of the Residence.”

Attorneys for the two sides didn’t immediately return messages seeking comment.

The dispute joins a list of troubles for Woods over the years away from the golf course. He recovered from a car crash near Los Angeles in 2021, the latest in a string of driving-related issues. He also divorced his wife Elin Nordegren in 2010 after becoming embroiled in a sex scandal.
