Zuckerberg Praises Trump as a “Badass” After Assassination Attempt
Bollywood Fever: Mark Zuckerberg, the tech mogul behind Facebook (now Meta), recently made headlines with his comments on former President Donald Trump. In a Bloomberg interview published Thursday, Zuckerberg discussed Trump’s resilience after surviving an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally, calling the former president a “badass.”
Zuckerberg emphasized that his admiration stemmed not from political alignment but from witnessing Trump pump his fist with the American flag waving behind him, a visual that struck a chord with Zuckerberg’s sense of patriotism. Despite this, Zuckerberg maintained his neutral stance, refraining from endorsing either Trump or President Joe Biden, and indicating no plans to change his position in the future.

This praise is notable given the strained relationship between Trump and Zuckerberg. Meta had suspended Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts following the January 6 insurrection, with restrictions lifted only recently. Trump, in turn, has expressed his displeasure with Zuckerberg, recently threatening on Truth Social to imprison election fraudsters, explicitly naming Zuckerberg.
Truth Social, a platform partially created in response to Meta’s ban, represents direct competition for Zuckerberg. This dynamic adds complexity to any potential endorsement considerations, especially as other tech figures like Elon Musk have shifted their stances in similar political contexts.
