Christian Petracca Trade Rumors Intensify Amid Discontent with Melbourne Demons
Trade rumors surrounding Christian Petracca escalate as reports suggest the injured Melbourne star is unhappy with the club’s direction, despite being under contract until 2029.
Bollywood Fever: Trade rumors surrounding Melbourne Demons superstar Christian Petracca have intensified, with reports suggesting the currently injured midfielder is disillusioned with the club’s direction.
The speculation was sparked by Channel 9’s Tom Morris, who revealed that the 28-year-old might have requested a trade if he weren’t locked into a long-term contract.
Morris initially reported that Petracca was “disgruntled and particularly disillusioned with the club’s direction,” adding that if the star player were out of contract, a trade request would likely have already been made.

Although Petracca is currently under contract with the Demons until 2029, Morris has continued to fan the flames, claiming that the midfielder “wants to go.”
On Nine’s Footy Furnace on Sunday night, Morris reiterated his stance, stating, “We reported he would leave if he was out of contract.
That still remains the case.” He acknowledged the complexities of the situation, noting that Petracca and his team are weighing up the potential risks of requesting a trade while still under contract.
Morris also addressed the challenges Petracca would face if he did request a trade and it didn’t go through, potentially leading to an awkward return to the club.
“It takes a bit of courage to make a trade request when you’re not sure if you’re going to be able to get out,” Morris explained.
Adding to the tension, Morris confirmed that Petracca’s teammates were reportedly frustrated with him for spending time in Noosa during his injury recovery instead of being around the club.
However, he clarified that the club had given Petracca permission to take this time away due to the unique circumstances he was facing.

Petracca has been sidelined since June after suffering severe injuries during the King’s Birthday clash against Collingwood, which included four broken ribs, a lacerated spleen, and a small puncture in his lung.
His absence has coincided with a significant decline in the Demons’ performance, with the team slipping to 12th on the ladder and out of finals contention.
As the 2024 AFL season nears its end, with the Demons unlikely to participate in September’s finals, all eyes are on Petracca and the potential fallout from these escalating trade rumors.
Whether or not he will remain with Melbourne in the coming years remains a key storyline to watch.
