Travis Kelce Eyes Hollywood Stardom with Lead Role in Action-Comedy Loose Cannons

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce is in talks for a leading role in the action-comedy Loose Cannons. The NFL star’s Hollywood ambitions are taking off with multiple projects, including his acting debut in Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie.

Bollywood Fever: Travis Kelce, the star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, could soon be Hollywood’s next leading man.

According to a report by Variety on Tuesday, August 20, Kelce is in talks to star in the action-comedy Loose Cannons.

The movie, produced by Lionsgate and 87Eleven Entertainment, the production company owned by John Wick director Chad Stahelski, centers around two “unhinged” cops who are paired together to help straighten each other out.

However, production isn’t expected to begin anytime soon, as Kelce, 34, is currently focused on preparing for the upcoming NFL season.

This potential role would mark Kelce’s biggest foray into the entertainment industry to date.

His fame has skyrocketed over the past year, in part due to his high-profile relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift.

Kelce has been vocal about his Hollywood ambitions. In May, he revealed on his and his brother Jason Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, that he was “looking for movie deals.” His first significant acting role will be in Ryan Murphy’s new horror series Grotesquerie, which premieres on September 25 on FX.

The series features an ensemble cast including Niecy Nash, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville.

On a May episode of New Heights, Kelce teased his “big role” in Grotesquerie, adding, “Right now, I’m just taking it scene by scene and trying to make sure that I remember my lines. Like I said, I’m very amateur at this.”

Kelce expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying he was “blown away” by Murphy’s offer and is determined not to disappoint. “Hopefully I don’t bomb this for him,” Kelce said. “It sounds like everything is going as planned, and I can’t thank him enough for just this opportunity because I’m sure there’s actors out there who have been in the acting world that would die for an opportunity to work with Ryan, and I’m getting it in, really, my first gig ever. So it’s pretty unique and pretty cool.”

In addition to his acting ventures, Kelce is set to host Amazon Prime Video’s new game show, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, which premieres on October 16. The show is a twist on the popular Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? format.

“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?,” Kelce said in a statement after being selected to host in April.

“The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen will definitely be entertaining. I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”
