Usher’s Unexpected Wedding Announcement
Usher left his fans in awe when he tied the knot last month, and it turns out, his family was just as astonished.
During a conversation with Entertainment Tonight on Saturday, the Grammy-winning artist shared that his nuptials with Jennifer Goicoechea were unexpected for his relatives as well.

The Intimate Las Vegas Ceremony
Describing the moment as incredible and perfectly concluding his Las Vegas stint, Usher revealed, “It was an incredible moment that we felt was great for us,” he expressed. “It was a button at the end of an incredible Las Vegas run. My mother was there, her mother was there, the kids were there, our immediate family was there. Matter of fact, everybody was surprised. I’m like, ‘No, no, no, we’re having a wedding right now. We’re gonna go have Elvis officiate us.’”
The marriage ceremony occurred in Las Vegas, a few hours post his performance at the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show at Allegiant Stadium.
Celebrations at the NAACP Image Awards
Recently, Usher attended the NAACP Image Awards, securing the entertainment of the year award and receiving the President’s Award. In his acceptance speech, he acknowledged his “beautiful wife, Jennifer” and his children, stating, “I’m a dad who’s just trying to get it right every day.”
The President’s Award is bestowed for “special achievement and distinguished public service,” as per the organization.
Confirmation of Usher’s marriage was given to The Hollywood Reporter by his representative last month.
The representative highlighted that the couple, surrounded by their nearest and dearest, is excited to continue their journey of raising their children in a loving environment, extending gratitude for the good wishes received.
Following Usher’s acclaimed Super Bowl performance, the couple proceeded to The Fast Lane drive-thru at Vegas Weddings for a private wedding ceremony.
Usher’s eventful week also saw the release of his ninth studio album, Coming Home, and the announcement of the extension of his Past Present Future Tour. His Usher: My Way Las Vegas residency concluded in December after 100 shows.
This is Usher’s second marriage. He was previously married to fashion designer Tameka Foster, with whom he has two sons, Usher “Cinco” Raymond V, 16, and Navid Ely, 15.
