BT Tower in London Set to Transform into Hotel Following $347 Million Sale
London, February 21 (BollywoodFever): London’s iconic BT Tower is slated for a new chapter as it transitions into a hotel following its sale by owner BT Group (BT.L).
The 177-meter landmark in the heart of the capital’s West End has been acquired by MCR Hotels for £275 million ($347 million).

Originally opened by Prime Minister Harold Wilson in 1965, the BT Tower held the title of London’s tallest building for 16 years until the construction of the NatWest Tower in the City of London.
Over the years, its significance in telecommunications has waned with advancements in fixed and mobile technology, leading to the removal of its microwave aerials over a decade ago.
Brent Mathews, BT’s Property Director, emphasized the tower’s historic role in facilitating the nation’s communication networks.
He expressed optimism about its future, stating that the deal with MCR would enable the BT Tower to embark on a new journey while preserving its iconic status for generations to come.
Tyler Morse, CEO and owner of MCR Hotels, echoed Mathews’ sentiments, expressing pride in the opportunity to preserve and repurpose the beloved landmark.
Morse affirmed MCR’s commitment to developing proposals that will honor the BT Tower’s legacy as it transforms into an iconic hotel, welcoming guests for years to come.
