Comedian and podcast host Brendan Schaub is catching serious heat online after being tossed from his son’s Little League baseball game over the weekend.
Schaub, who you might know from his podcast The Fighter and the Kid or his past life as a UFC fighter, is also a proud dad of two. He’s often posted about his kids’ sports milestones on social media, but this time, his sideline involvement went a bit sideways.
Schaub Gets Ejected at Little League Game
It all went down the weekend of May 17. Schaub was coaching during one of his son’s playoff games when a controversial call at home plate set things off. A young player slid into home, but the ump called him out — a decision that had the opposing team cheering and Schaub fuming.
He told the umpire the call was “garbage,” which immediately got him ejected. In the video, the ump throws him out with some dramatic body language, and Schaub looks stunned as he walks over and asks, “I got ejected for saying the call was garbage?”
“With that language, even more so,” the ump responds.
That’s when Schaub fired back: “Get the f**k outta here.”
Internet Reactions: Mixed But Loud
Unsurprisingly, the moment blew up in the MMA world and beyond. Critics slammed Schaub for overreacting and called out his past comments about kids in the league. Some pointed to a moment on his podcast where he told his son, “If this slow, fat kid gets a hit off you, this isn’t for you.”
“He went on a podcast and called little children fat and idiots. Parents like that should be banned from attending games,” one commenter said on YouTube.
Another added, “Dude is such a bully. He’s a huge fighter. Look how he was walking over to intimidate the ump.”
Schaub Responds with Shrugs and Sarcasm
Schaub, however, didn’t seem too bothered by the online outrage. He posted about it on Instagram on May 18, saying:
“The kid was safe,” alongside a shrug emoji. “Must be a slow-ass news day in MMA when this is a headline. Also, I was the third coach this ump threw out that day. Alllllllll I said was, ‘That’s a garbage call.’ It’s the playoffs, for god sakes.”
While the backlash was loud, some folks had his back. One commenter wrote, “A guy can’t be passionate nowadays! Good work. Rather this than some Dad being on his phone the whole time not even knowing the score of his kid’s baseball game.”
So, depending on where you stand, Schaub is either just a fired-up dad or way out of line. Either way, the internet isn’t done talking about it.
