Brie Larson’s Prada Ensemble at the 2024 Met Gala

Brie Larson took a unique approach to her attire for the 2024 Met Gala, embracing the “Garden of Time” dress code with a distinctive Prada ensemble that symbolized the passage of time.

“We wanted to emphasize visual representations of time passing,” Larson explained about her collaboration with Prada. “Such as sand falling through an hourglass, the changing hues of a sunset during the golden hour, and the dress itself, which was meticulously crafted by the atelier, reflecting their commitment to this art.”

In keeping with the theme of reimagining old garments in new ways, Prada drew inspiration from their own archives for Larson’s outfit. The base layer of her ensemble paid homage to the orange and beige gradient seen in the fall 2007 collection. The pencil dress was adorned with crystal embellishments that offered a luxurious interpretation of the sands of time. Larson’s outfit not only honored past Prada collections but also offered a literal interpretation of the theme. Over her archival-inspired dress, she wore a structured yet translucent layer of lilac crinoline in the shape of an hourglass—a clear nod to the fall 2024 collection.
